लोला स्कोरेस अ परफेक्ट १०!

Some last thoughts and photos as Shane & Echo will be returning to the US next week:

Ok, so I think Lola has gained some weight, but then I am just happy she still has all her fur! Ok, so a friend said to me that the last 4 months had gone by quickly...maybe for her (smile). Ok, so now I can actually pet Lola and she seems to like it, but then she smacked me with quite a wallop an hour later. So are my feelings and experiences with Lola...on one hand she is a sweetie, but on the other...just watch out!

Posting some last photos for Mom & Dad. Lola has not tried to jump over the lattice barrier we have placed across the entrance to downstairs, so I decided to let her have a supervised walk on the deck. It's been awhile since she was out in her stroller due to rain or the cold temps. She liked it, but now wants more.

And honestly, sorry about another shot of cat poo, but this was how it came up on the scoop...too funny not to post...Lola Scores a Perfect 10!

I couldn't believe it when Lola jumped up into Cali's favorite sleeping spot! Cali was outside, so Lola took advantage and got right into a nap. The shot from behind reminds me of a Butter Ball Turkey :)

And doesn't it look like she is about to cry...here in she shot of her in the pink chair? I think she was thinking of her Mom & Dad!

Welcome Home you world travelers!

Lola, Not The Cheesecake!

It must be close, the time that you will be home. Ok, I admit it, I like the early morning sun to relax and get a quick clean up, but boy is GrandMa strict! Lola, don't to that, Lola, No! are words I often hear Mom.

And ok, although I don't like my country cousin, I have enjoyed sneaking tidbits of her food~she does know how to eat!

And I have a favorite chair, but wouldn't you know it, last week GrandMa was sitting in it! I acted like I didn't notice & just got up there and tried to get comfy. Some people, honestly.

I sure am looking forward to your return Mom & Dad, how about a bath when you have rested up? Safe Home!

Lola's Photo Shoot

I heard Mom & Dad had a photo shoot in China, so I had my own person come in and take some shots of me. See how you like them.

How Sweet It Is!

Hey Mom & Dad: I understand that you are now in China because Grandma & Pops have been saying it was half way now & they seemed to be very happy about it. I enjoyed hearing your voice on the phone, but did not like having the camera in my face, when I wasn't dressed properly! Wanted to tell you that I learned a new trick~ Have been watching Grandma put Cali's delicious food up on the stove whenever I am around. Don't think that is very nice, but little I could do about it until last night. I thought if they won't bring the food to me then I will have to go to the food! And boy did I~it was a little tough getting the heavy metal pie pan off the dish, but I did it & was able to get a big chunk of Shrimp & Fish Dinner, before Grandma got in the kitchen :) She was yelling something or the other, but I noticed she didn't come too close to me & the food...by this time I had jumped to the floor & How Sweet it is, was all I could think as the juicy, wet fish & shrimp slid down my dry parched throat! Ok, so I am a little itchy today, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

And I have to say it's a good thing I have such good self esteem~having grown up on the streets of Brooklyn, NY~ I have developed pretty thick skin Because it's not nice to hear Grandma tell people that if she didn't know better she would swear a small dog was using my litter pan! Seriously, is that nice! AND she is even posting a photo because she has never seen anything so big being deposited by a cat. Come on, after all I am a 'big' girl.

Oh well, I am enjoying my time out on the deck in the stroller each day and the country air helps me sleep better at night. But I do miss you & looking forward to your return!

PS Grandma wants you to ask my other Granny how to cook the thing on the deck railing?

Relaxing in the Country

Lola is getting use to the country life...she is exploring more & more but still not friendly with Cali :( Lola loves to go downstairs & boy can she get into 'things' :) She played a few keys on the piano, but didn't like the sound & left very quickly. You were right when you said she likes to find the highest spots! Last night she went right up the mattress that was standing on end! All those extra shape claws in action. She didn't want to get off either. Last post was 9/11~two weeks, two days :)

Last night she was running from 'her' room into the living room and back...quite a racket, I have to say, but she was getting some exercise anyway and she was having fun. She is outside now as we speak, enjoying the warm Sept sun.

Is It September Yet?

Hey Mom & Dad:

GrandMa, said I could do this one on my own...I had already instructed her which photos to take so you could see I was learning the house. I do like Dad's old 'Clubhouse' and I've found some interesting stuff on the walls...have you been up there? I do like the down stairs, as I can hide from GrandMa, which is a blast...Well, she doesn't think so, but hey a cat's gotta have some fun! And I will say this new array of furniture to stretch and sharpen my claws on is pretty sweet. Boy, I thought GrandMa & Pops were old till I saw them move toward me to get me to stop the stretching...all I'm sayin' is that they can move when they want to!

GrandMa did buy me a 'scratching post' which is actually corrugated cardboard, but it works for me, although Pop's wasn't too happy w/the price for Cardboard!! $6.00 for a slab of cardboard, he said! But I get on it pretty regularly, although, I have to admit, I still prefer the furniture. Who can blame me, really?

The other day I heard GrandMa say Veterinarian & I hid in a box, but she still found me :( I did enjoy my walk around the neighborhood and getting to see Mohegan Sun~doesn't look so bad to me.

You will note the ghetto cone I am now forced to wear :( Please bring me something pretty from Italy! A Moreno Beaded Necklace will do or perhaps a Persian scarf to match my smokey gray fur?!

Lola Goes to the Vet

Unfortunately, that cute red spot on Lola's belly wasn't healing because she had to keep licking it & the spot on her neck, which was caused by the cone did get nasty. We did not know this, however, until we could smell it b/c for us, Lola is not a lap cat.

But the visit to the veterinarian was good for both of us. They gave her an antibiotic shot as well as a shot to help alleviate her wanting to scratch, lick herself. I asked for a tranquilizer also, but they refused :( . The Vet did assure me, that Lola was not the usual cat, that her allergies were severe and that the food she had gotten into of Cali's weeks ago, would take a few more weeks to get out of her system.

I explained to the Vet, actually I think it was more like venting, now that I think of it, that If things didn't go right w/Lola, although I might see a future grand child, I probably would not have it overnight...if she got my drift.

She explained to me that b/c Lola's skin was so sensitive that a little petting might be ok, but then it would actually not feel good to her & that was why she would turn one moment from a sweet kitty to a Cujo Cat~ trying to scratch, bite and or claw us.
And she tested her reaction to light & dark & said that No, Lola had not been hit in the head, as I suspected, but that her pupil reaction was normal. (Don't know if I am buying that one)

And of course, due to the new surroundings and the other cat factor, that she was on guard.

She is all healed now. We went for a walk w/her stroller, Cali following us...see photos. One neighbor came off her lawn chair & wanted to see my Grand child! Imagine her surprise when she peeked in at Lola & then the realization that I would actually walk a cat in a stroller...Only in New York, she said as I continued on my route :)

Ok LOLA wants in on this: Hey Mom & Dad...so just when are you coming back? I think you have enough photos. And I have to say the ones with the Pigeons were my favorite! Could you bring one home for me? I never tasted anything European. Things are better here. The Dr. was very nice, and she told GrandMa I had to keep the cone on. So GrandMa put masking tape on the spots that caused me a problem. Only trouble now & you will understand this MOM, is that I look like a Ghetto Cat...seriously...masking tape all over the cone~it's embarrassing...I don't want to go out on the deck...These country cats Do Not Like us City cats, & now I can't get away with it.

I've been exploring the house, well more of it then before & I can tolerate, a bit seeing Cali, But I do not like watching her eat her treats, and all that good smelling food~FISH, TUNA, SHRIMP, I mean how cruel can these people be!!! I can't even get one tid bit! Instructions from the Vet.

Well, I hope you enjoy Rome, I've heard the love cats there!

A Rhesus Cat?

Not sure if it's the Rhesus Monkey who has the pink butt, but you get my drift~because I have discovered the Rhesus Cat, really, right here in Norwich, Ct. Right here in my own house, as it turns out! Imagine my surprise when I noticed Lola's bald spot on her lower belly. This is not visible from looking at the tummy, however. No! One has to have the distinct advantage (some would say not an advantage) but in any case, one must be looking at the back end of Lola, while she is stooping or bending forward...which most often would be her position at her food dish. And that is when u will find the round pink spot, that she has recently created. I was able to get a shot of it before she placed her belly on the floor. This new over groomed spot came as a result of us removing her plastic cone~ it was causing a sore on her neck. Boy do I count myself lucky that Thom was actually able to get her into an outfit because no sooner was her cone off than she started pulling out tufts of fur from her legs. Really. Now a few days later she is really busting out of her pink tee & she managed to get the trim off from one leg...I had to cut the trailing threads. Looks like the outfit is actually disintegrating before our eyes.

I am glad that she does seem to heal very quickly.

Much to my surprise the other night was when I walked into the bedroom to find not only the remains of what should have been in the litter box, but a real no kidding 3 inch skid mark! I didn't know cats could or would do this...Scoot their butts across the floor...just like the dog in the commercial! YES, my friends some do, Lola for one! (no photo to document)

Other wise we are doing fine :) Lola, does love watching the birds, and manages to get into locations Cali NEVER even considered. We are making progress where they are concerned, however! I am able to have them in the same room at one time...as long as Cali doesn't get too close, Lola just hisses & gives Cali a mean look!

Think Lola, wants to have a go at this, but will save that for next week!

Temper Tantrums

Do u know the old song; 'Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets?'Well probably not, but I think Lola does :). We had 18 people here last night from NAC & I cooked & cleaned for a few days ahead...and as a result of that Lola, did not get her normal quality time with GrandMa.

She is certainly a persistent cat! And I can see how she has had to adapt from her life on the streets of Brooklyn. For example the other day she was out walking around in the kitchen, This is her first destination...to see if any of Cali's food has been left down :) Well, there must have been a piece of one of the little nuggets of Cali's dry food, b/c I saw her cup her paw, grab the little bit (I never saw it in the bowl) and turn her paw up to her mouth & eat away! She was quite pleased with herself.

I should have know she would know how to be a good dumpster diver, but I didn't think of that while I had the trash can open as I was preparing food & throwing waste into the bag as I went. And as I had to go to the bathroom, I stopped by the computer to check email on the way, on my return I discovered not only will she trash can dive, but she seems to like coffee grinds as well. (Like Cali). That was fun.

Later in the week, w/her spending extra time in your bedroom, she starting banging (I swear) against the door w/the plastic cone on her head...She WANTED OUT! Well, I didn't get her out at once...was a little busy w/18 folks arriving. So you can see by the photos, how she was jumping, standing up on her hind legs & ripped the plastic off the dress bag hanging there.

Last night, w/all the commotion here, she was content to stay in her room. After everyone had left, close to midnight, I let her out to roam about for a bit. She discovered your old clubhouse :) And for some reason she seems to like it there...maybe she smells your essence? I went to bed and let her stay out.

You will see by the last photo what I woke up to :) I do think that was an accident OR she could be telling me what she thinks about house parties :)

But the good news is that she is now sleeping at the foot of the bed...she won't come closer to me than that, but then she has moved onto the bed :)

Hello Mom & Dad Are You There?

Hey Mom & Dad: GrandMa says you haven't made a comment on our blog yet. I know you are busy with your adventure and all, but are you checking up on me or what? I am adjusting to life here in the country. I will say the array of wildlife out my front window is quite Fascinating! Deer, squirrels and of course the many colored birds~boy can't help but wonder what they would taste like. Ok I digress.

I was out and about late last night after GrandMa & Pops had a party. Everyone seemed excited about those fireworks, but I wasn't impressed. She had a few people come in and look at me (think I'm famous around here) and I was on my best behavior, I didn't take off and hide & I even let them give me a few ear rubs...They were questioning GrandMa about her previous blogs on me. (That will teach her). Later last night, after GrandMa had cleaned up, I was on the dining room chair & I sure needed to stretch my claws, so I have a couple of digs into the seat...substantial cushion there. Jeez, you should have seen GrandMa move off the sofa! She pointed a finger at me & told me "NO"! I couldn't help myself, I just reached out and swatted her, but I wasn't quite close enough to cause toooo much pain :( But I definitely got some skin, if you get my drift :)

I had such a pleasant morning today, as I was on the dining room table & guess what I saw...up close~A squirrel and a big fat blue jay! That was fun, maybe I will get into this country living after all.

Hope you like our photos, we are really enjoying yours!

Miss you. xoxo lola

Is that a Purr I hear?

Well, we have had better days! Lola is getting settled, seems to be doing fine without her outfits~although she looks very odd to me as I am so use to seeing her w/clothes! As she trusts me more, I MAY try. Earlier today she was out exploring the kitchen & I thought I wonder if she would like a few soft brushings w/Cali's comb~~~NO she would not. I barely picked the comb up, to show her & she started hissing again! Instantly. I can't imagine what her life was like on the streets of Brooklyn~must have been rough. OK No COMB!

She is doing some purring and seems to like having her ears rubbed, as long as no fast moves are make.

I had to wash out her purple tee-shirt...it was handing over the shower rod & I did think...well in the future, that could be a Grand Child's outfit :). She & Cali still not getting close. Actually Cali is afraid of the pink stroller, so I am not sure we will get her to follow up for a walk in the woods w/Lola.

Lola wants to say a few words to Mom & DaD:

Hey Mom & Dad, it is ok here, not like the summer camp you told me about, but ok. I feel a little naked but GrandMa seems incapable of getting my clothes on...I hope she doesn't post me on Flickr like this. I understand you were in London & that that is very far away :( What the heck is a Big Ben? Sounds like some cat I once knew in Brooklyn...for your sake, I hope not!
Well, it's time for an ear rub...so I will close for now. Hope you like my pics. xxoo
